Immigrant Professionals Leveraging Architectural Knowledge for New Opportunities (IPLAN Employment)
IPLAN EMPLOYMENT helps you build on your international education and work experience. It helps you to gain the knowledge and skills to help you integrate into the architectural workplace in Ontario.
The program is a unique blend of academic and workplace training. It is delivered over 14 weeks at Toronto Metropolitan University and at JVS Toronto.
IPLAN EMPLOYMENT is designed to help prepare you for your Ontario career in architecture and get you hired faster! International professionals should also ensure that they avail themselves of information regarding the process for licensure as an architect in Ontario. This is administered and governed by the Ontario Association of Architects under the Architects Act.
This 14-week program includes:
- 3 architectural courses at Toronto Metropolitan University
- Sector-specific employment workshops at JVS Toronto
- Licensing information from the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)*
- Mentoring, internships and work placements

Road to Employment for Immigrant Women
6 Weeks of Comprehensive Career Support for Women
Immigrating to Canada is disproportionately challenging for women, who often put aside their professional aspirations in order to tend to the needs of their families.
By the time they are ready to enter the workforce, they face barriers such as gaps in their employment history, financial illiteracy, feelings of anxiety, lack of confidence, and uncertainty about the future.
Therefore, JVS Toronto is offering 6 weeks of wrap-around support that builds resiliency, motivation, and preparation for the Canadian labour market.
Open to Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees, and CUAET holders.

Skilled Trades Achieving Results through Training (START)
START equips individuals facing barriers, such as newcomers to Canada, equity-seeking groups, and people with disabilities, with the training they need to obtain professional licensure in Ontario.
Focused on high-demand construction and industrial trades like Electricians and Plumbers, START offers comprehensive support including specialized training, prerequisite fulfillment and Trade Equivalency Assessment (TEA) exam preparation in order to obtain the qualifications necessary in Ontario.
Eligibility:
- Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents
- Must have work experience outside Canada
- Must meet the requirements to be licensed in Ontario
- No CLB required
